For the purpose of this assignment I am choosing to focus on the summer youth programming. The summer coterie is held yearly for children and youth between the ages of 8-17 who have been diagnosed with FASD. The lives are organize up according to age and gender and proficient for half-dozen days and five nights with four main staff works around the clock daily with volunteers (Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, guide leaders etc) helping out with the implementation of programming. The purpose for this camp is twofold one, to provide respite for the families and caregivers of the youth and two, to provide sound and fun programming for youths who have had less than positive precedent camp experiences.

This summer camp hopes to provide continual friendship of acceptable social behaviour, peer socializing and new experiences with children parcel out the same diagnosis in a positive information environment. The aspect that interests me the most is that the camp is designed to provide shift programming for t he children while they are at camp, specific! and correct towards their diagnosis. The outcome is that the children will learn appropriate ways of dealings with situations rather than being removed from camp. Diagnosis- specific programming is ofttimes overlooked in regular camp experiences because it is geared to the decorous child.
